It's a Small World After All

There is a world of possibilities at your fingertips. Will you take advantage of the new opportunities in the world of manufacturing?

Camp Success

Camp Success is a state-of-the-art engineering and technology day camp for rising 7th and 8th grade students. Camp Success helps students develop the innovative thinking skills that allow researchers and engineers to invent technologies that benefit society by making our lives better, safer and more convenient.

Every day, our world faces challenges in many different areas—such as the environment, transportation, food production, and healthcare—and someday our children will need to answer these challenges. Camp Success participants will experience how engineering allows them to have fun, be creative and find real solutions to real problems.

Creativity is truly the key to innovative engineering. Many people think of creativity in terms of painting, music and literature. But some of the most powerful creative impulses belong to the people who shape our material world, our environment and our systems of information and power. There are endless opportunities for people with a head for science and a love for exploring possibilities.

Camp Success is held at college and university campuses throughout South Carolina. The camp lasts a week, but the learning and skills last a lifetime!

The Camp Success Team

University and technical college educators partner with industry leaders and experienced middle school teachers to give campers a challenging and fun week at Camp Success—a week filled with discovery, creativity, problem solving and team work. Every session of Camp Success has at least one faculty member for every 10 students.

Role models are an important part of Camp Success. Women and minorities are under-represented in engineering professions, so special care is taken to ensure that females and people of color are among the faculty, volunteers and industry leaders who work with the students at each session of Camp Success.

Safety and Supervision

The safety and well-being of campers is a top priority for camp administrators and faculty. Every camp activity is supervised by qualified university, technical college and middle school faculty, senior level student teaching assistants and workshop leaders.

Campers may not leave the campus unless in the presence of a staff member or someone previously authorized by a parent or guardian. Field trips are supervised by faculty at all times. Staff and faculty check to ensure all campers are present for all activities.

How to Apply

The application package is specific for each Camp Success location. Camps are available in Aiken, Columbia, Florence, Greenville and Greenwood.

Fees for Camp Success are unique to each location. Some locations offer limited scholarship assistance for those who would be unable to attend otherwise. If available, scholarship application instructions are also found at the links below. Proof of income for the current calendar year will be required to apply for a scholarship.

Camp Success is a day camp. Parents or guardians are responsible for transporting campers to and from camp each day and may be responsible for providing lunch.
