Salute to Manufacturing The Foundation is joining with the South Carolina Chamber to host a unified recognition event for manufacturing in 2009. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Crescent Foundation are hosting the Salute to Manufacturing awards luncheon to honor South Carolina's leading manufacturers on September 22, 2009 at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing Technology in Florence. Register here to attend the Salute to Manufacturing Awards Luncheon on September 22. For many years, the two organizations hosted separate events and manufacturing awards to honor and recognize excellence in manufacturing. This year, they have joined forces to consolidate efforts, taking the best of both events to create one special day to recognize the important role manufacturing plays in South Carolina's economy. The Siver Crescent Manufacturer of the Year honor will be awarded to one manufacturer in each of three categories (small, medium and large) that exhibit strong economic impact, a commitment to workforce, and involvement and contributions to their communities. The Salute to Manufacturing awards luncheon provides an opportunity for manufacturers and community leaders to recognize the accomplishments of South Carolina's best and brightest companies during the state's annual Industry Appreciation observance. We hope you will take time to apply for this special award. The deadline to apply is June 12, 2009. Download the Silver Crescent Award application here. There are still Sponsorship Opportunities available! About the Award
The Silver Crescent Manufacturer of the Year Award resembles the Crescent Moon. The use of the crescent as a symbol of our state dates back to the 1700s, when it was worn on the caps of South Carolina’s revolutionary soldiers. Etched on the award is our state’s official tree—the Palmetto. This tree symbolizes the defeat of the British fleet at the Fort on Sullivan’s Island, which was built with palmetto logs. On the award, these two historic state symbols have as their foundation a cogged gear, representing the solid foundation that manufacturing provides for the economy of South Carolina.
